Bethune-Cookman University To Host A National Tour Stop For Students Interested In Medicine And Dentistry

Daytona Beach, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) will co-host the Tour for Diversity in Medicine on Monday, February 16 at the B-CU Center for Civic Engagement (740 West International Speedway Blvd). The organizer, “Tour for Diversity” (T4D), will bring physicians and dentists from around the country to provide informative and motivating workshops on such topics as:  life as a physician/dentist, the medical school application process, test taking skills, interviewing tips and MCAT/DAT assessment preparation.  This full-day conference is open to the public and requires a $5.00 processing fee, which includes lunch, for college students.  For more tour information and registration, please Click here .

The Tour for Diversity in Medicine seeks to educate, inspire, and cultivate future physicians and dentists of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds by forming local connections in order to fulfill a national need. “The information that will be shared at this conference is invaluable to our students and community. It is extremely important to ensure that minority students are equipped with as many tools as possible for their success,” says Noni Walker, director of community relations and event liaison for B-CU. Conceived by former medical student leaders, T4D brings premedical enrichment activities to underrepresented minority students in order to assist with the diversification of the health professions workforce. T4D is a grassroots effort, with its inaugural tour hosted in February 2012 across five Southern states. Additional tours span the nation with stops at minority-serving institutions, community colleges, and other institutions with underserved populations.
